This week's reading will be a review of "Constructing Arguments" from your e-book. Pay close attention to the section on organization and counter arguments.

Office Hours

My office hours are cancelled for the week of 4/9-4/13.  Feel free to email me if you have any questions over the assignments.

For Class on 4/10:

1.) Bring a printed copy of the sample student argument draft 2.1 I emailed to you. (If you did not receive this, make sure to contact me BEFORE tomorrow.)

2.)Bring TWO copies of your detailed outline.

3.)Bring your First Year Writing textbook.

Bring your Textbooks. Make sure you have read "Till Children Do Us Part." (p. 386).

For Class on 3/27:

1.) Bring a copy of your Participation Assignment. *I have made changes to this assignment. You are now required to include a response to grader commentary. I will be grading the response.
2.)Bring your First-Year Writing TEXTBOOK to class.

Reading for next week:

We will be focusing on reviewing the "parts" of a literature review next week, as well as introducing argumentative essays.

Read the following in your First-Year Writing textbook for next class:

* Till Children Do Us Part (pp. 386-387)(This reading is an argument, NOT a literature review.)

Changes to Participation Assignment:

Make sure in re-read the participation assignment for next week, as I have added a response to grader commentary to this assignment.

For Class on 3/20:

1.) Bring your participation assignment (printed).

2.) Bring a full draft of your literature review with your revised paragraphs integrated into it.

3.) Bring your First-Year Writing textbook.

We will be workshopping topic sentences and transition sentences in class. If possible, bring two different colored highlighters.

For BA 5 (Due on March 19th):

Do NOT revise your introductions. 

Make sure you revise a body paragraph where you synthesize sources. Read the Raider Writer instructions carefully.

For Class on 3/6:

1.) Bring two copies of your participation assignment for this week.
2.) Bring a copy of your entire draft 1.1. (Your new paragraph should be integrated in this draft.)
3.) Bring your First-Year Writing textbook.

There will be a quiz over the readings for this week in class. 

Peer Critiques

Remember,you can find the drafts you need to critique for this weeks assignment on Raider Writer in the Peer critique 1.1a and Peer critique 1.1b submission links.

For Class on 2/28:

1.) Bring a printed copy of the student sample draft on adoption with you to class. We will be working on with this sample in class.
2.) Bring a printed copy of your own draft 1.1 with you to class. You will have time to get feedback from a classmate on it during class.
3.) Remember to bring a print copy of your participation assignment to class.

I will not have office hours on Thursday 3/1. I will have regular office hours on Tuesday and Wednesday though. If you need to see me, make an appointment with me soon. 

For Class on 2/21:

1.) Bring two copies of your literature review draft. 
2.) Make sure you have read the student sample draft I emailed you. (If you did not receive this, contact me before class on 2/21.)
3.) Bring a printed copy of the student sample draft that I emailed.

Remember to bring your detailed outlines for your literature review.  Also, re-read the links provided on annotated bibliographies.

1.) Your Annotated Bibliography (with thesis statement).
2.) The movie reviews I emailed this week. They are on the film "The Help." Make sure you have read them BEFORE class.
3.) Possible Reading Quiz over assigned readings. Be prepared.

 1.) Make sure you are registered with Raider Writer.
2.) Make sure you have an active account for the St. Martin's Handbook (e-book), and First-Year Writing textbook. They are the same texts used for 1301. Bring your textbook to class.
3.) Familiarize yourself with the Brief Assignments (all) and writing assignments for 1302.  It is good to look ahead and see what you can expect to do in this course.
